Having been in practice for over centuries, the wedding tradition of Cambodia has modernized with more designed outfits, jewelry, and materials... It used to taken for about a week consecutively until the ceremony complete. Now that people are more busy, the cost of the celebration has become higher, the ceremony is now shorten to the minimum 2 consecutive days of any time suitable for the bride and the bridegroom.There are several celebrations and prayers to combine the wedding into one completely. The celebrations are to present its historic beliefs and stories and religion, along with the everyday life practical deeds.

Wedding Venues:

Preferably,  the wedding shall be done at the bride's house, except the reception which shall be of cause done at the restaurant. In some cases, the wedding shall be held at the groom's house if the bride and her parents agree. This could be a very rare case.

 

Wedding Day:

Wedding day is to determined by the date of birth of the bride and the groom on their lucky stars. It is normally scheduled with lunar calendar. The wedding days are currently shortened into 2 practical days. The first day is the mainly for prayers, and the second day is more the reception...

-  Pithy Krong Pea Ly: Pithy Krong Pea Ly is a starting celebration which may last about 30 min or so. The celebration is held in from of the house before the entrance door of the bride's house. It is the welcoming celebration and the celebration made for the land the village care-give by offering them dried food and signing them some songs. In general, the groom will move to live with the bride after marriage. The Pithy Krong Pea Ly is believed to provide all the kinds of happiness and wisdom to the new comer in to this house.The celebration is made with the groom only without the present of the bride.
